Guest Speaker Lord Peter Lilley
A member of Parliament for St Albans from 1983, he then represented Hitchin and
Harpenden from 1997 to 2017 and was granted a life peerage in June 2018. He was Financial
Secretary to the Treasury 1989 to 90; Trade and Industry Secretary 90 to 92 and Social
Security Secretary 92 to 97 when he introduced the Incapacity Benefit. A long term critic of
the European Union he was supportive of the Eurosceptic pressure group “Leave means
Leave”.
